A day after the Lok Sabha approved a bill according statutory backing to Aadhaar, a finance ministry official on Saturday said direct benefit transfer (DBT) of fertiliser subsidy will be rolled out soon.

"DBT on fertilizer subsidy will be done in a slow and calibrated manner without creating any disruption or without creating any difficulties," said Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das on the margins of Advancing Asia conference.

According to Das, DBT on fertiliser subsidy will bring efficiency in administration and governance and noted that the bill was passed within 11 days announcing the budget.

He said the new move will be a game-changer ensuring the benefits to reach the deserving and preventing leakage and transmission losses.

However, Das could not give a figure to the quantum of savings that DBT fertiliser subsidy will bring but said a good amount would be saved.

Fertiliser subsidy..DBT transfer
Srivathsan.R | Thu Mar 17 01:21:21 2016
It is the beginning of well thought of system to make the fertilizer subsidy reach the needy. Since Jandhan is already insisting issue a Farmers Debit card for buying fertilizer, pesticides and seeds thorough digital media and reduce cash buying. If the rural population comes to digital transaction or JAM the country will progress at a fast track. Subsidy need be given only for food crops and not for all agri products like coffee, cocoa, cashew coconut are ca,oil seeds .Let it be limited to paddy, wheat, ragi, maize, sugarcane,. There is no subsidy for pesticides which constitutes maximum expense.
