Issues like cooperation in e-commerce and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will be on top agenda when Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal visits Brazil and United States from 9th – 14th November 2019 for the 9th BRICS Trade Ministers Meet.

Discussions at the 9th BRICS Trade Ministers Meet will be focussed on opportunities for enhanced intra-BRICS trade and investment cooperation, said an official release on Saturday.

On the first leg of his visit the Commerce and Industry Minister will attend 9th BRICS Trade Ministers Meet in Brasilia, Brazil, on the 11th of November 2019.

Issues like cooperation in e-commerce, investment facilitation, MSMEs, Intellectual Property Right, will be discussed during the meet.

Deliberations on the current global economic and trade environment, challenges facing the multilateral trading system, ways of advancing the BRICS trade and investment cooperation will also take place.

Another important outcome of the Ministerial meeting under the current Brazilian Presidency is the signing of an MoU among Trade and Investment Promotion Agencies of BRICS countries, which will help foster close collaboration between the trade and investment promotion agencies of BRICS nations for promoting intra BRICS trade and investment.

During his second leg of visit on 12th November 2019, Commerce and Industry Minister is scheduled to have a meeting with representatives of the medical devices manufacturing companies to discuss the trade issues.

On 13th November 2019, Piyush Goyal will have India-US bilateral meeting with his counterpart US Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Robert Lighthizer to discuss the outstanding bilateral issues and to arrive at a shared understating on a mutually beneficial basis.

On 14th November 2019, Commerce and Industry Minister will hold high- level industry interaction with business and industry representatives in New York.
