The share of MSME procurement is less than 10 percent against a mandatory 20 percent, a latest review by Union Minister for MSME Kalraj Mishra shows.

Union Minister for MSME Kalraj Mishra reviewed the Public Procurement Policy by all the Central Government Departments and Central Public Sector Undertakings, after it was reviewed in the PMO.

Under the review, it was also found that MSME procurement of SC/ST entrepreneurship share is less than 0.2 percent against a mandatory 4 percent.

Mishra has directed Secretary (MSME) to identify top 50 CPSUs and get a meeting organized at Ministers level so that concerned CPSUs can be sensitized towards meeting the requirement of Public Procurement Policy of MSMEs.

The Procurement policy has become binding from April 1, 2015, under the MSME Development Act 2015.
