Discounting any economic fallout of the Bihar elections, won by the Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress combine, India Inc on Sunday lauded the victory of the Grand Alliance in the state.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) congratulated the Grand Alliance, saying it is confident that the new government in Bihar will continue to be development-oriented.

"Our best wishes go to the incoming government, and I am sure the new government will dedicate itself to fulfilling the aspirations of the masses by leading Bihar to a new era of industrial development, economic growth and prosperity," CII President Sumit Mazumder said in a statement here.

CII Eastern Region chairman A.K. Verma said: "The Bihar government has already signed a tripartite agreement with the LKY School of Public Policy, Singapore, and CII to create a roadmap for ease-of-doing-business in the state."

Industry chamber Assocham also congratulated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the leadership of the Grand Alliance for registering an impressive victory in the Bihar polls the results of which were declared on Sunday.

“Working closely with the state government, Assocham found that Nitish Kumar is greatly focused on the kind of governance which touches the common man -- whether they are women, girl children or those at the bottom of the pyramid. His emphasis on social indicators have helped him re-win the confidence of his people,” Assocham secretary general D.S.Rawat said in a statement in New Delhi.
