The government on Thursday invited French investments into India's aviation sector for manufacturing and infrastructure development.

The invitation to invest in India was made during a meeting between Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and his counterpart Alain Vidalies.

Raju met Vidalies, who hold the portfolio of transport, marine affairs and fisheries, on the sidelines of the 51 International Air Show in Paris.

"They discussed various issues related to aviation sector. The discussion focussed on manufacturing, infrastructure development and investment into India’s aviation sector," the civil aviation ministry said in a statement.

"The delegation also met with the senior management personnel of important companies like Bombardier, Boeing and Safran."

According to the statement, Raju informed the major aviation companies about various opportunities in India and the 'Make in India' initiative.
