Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Kalraj Mishra has inaugurated the Indian Pavilion in the Royal Perth Show, to be held in Australia from 27 September to 4 October.

Governor of West Australia, Wayne Martin, was also present along with Finance Minister, Power Minister, Agriculture Minister, Transport Minister, Ministers for Mines, Petroleum and Housing and Speaker of Legislative Assembly were present on the occasion.

Galaxy of Ministers and members of Parliament were gracing the occasion and appreciated the presence of Indian Minister and conveyed optimism that the two countries will work together towards the mutual cooperation especially in promotion of small business enterprises.

On this eve, Kalraj Mishra said that it is a matter of great pleasure for me to be here at this 'Interactive Business Session' organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), the High Commission of India (Perth) as a promotional activity on the sidelines of the India country level participation as "Guest Country" in the prestigious IGA Perth Royal Show 2014.

"At the outset, I also extend my heartiest welcome to all the Australian buyers who have converged to this 'Interactive Business Session' and the exhibition from far and near. Your presence is a reciprocation of the closeness and affinity that the people of India feel for Australia's dynamism, rich culture, and its warm and friendly citizens," he added.

As India and Australia are traditional partners with shared values - pluralism, tolerance, openness and respect for fundamental freedom and human rights, they have to expand their partnership and strengthen people-to-people ties: scientific, space and technology collaborations, energy cooperation and interaction among entrepreneurs and social innovators.

This partnership has entered into a new phase especially after signing of the civil nuclear cooperation agreement by Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott and Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, recently in New Delhi, which is a historic milestone in our relationship. It is a reflection of a new level of mutual trust and confidence in our relationship and will open a new chapter in our bilateral cooperation.

It will support India's efforts to fuel its growth with clean energy and minimise its carbon footprint.

The factors contributing to the continuing interest in nuclear power include increasing India's demand for energy, as well as concerns about climate change, volatile fossil fuel prices and security of energy supply.

India has a vast reservoir of small and medium enterprises which contribute nearly 8 per cent to the country's GDP; constitute 45 per cent of the manufacturing output and 40 per cent of the exports.

Such enterprises have huge energy demand for their sustainable development and for the growth of the economy. There is also tremendous scope for joint collaborations in the fields of skill development, technology upgradation and market linkages, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

In the I.G.A. Perth Royal Show, the products related to tourism, education, handicrafts, garments, home textiles, organic clothes, leather products, gem and jewellery, artifacts, cosmetics, tea, candles, fragrance and perfume etc. are being showcased. Participation in Perth Royal Show is expected to help India to showcase its strengths and expand trade and investment ties with this crucial State of Australia. Besides, I am told that I.T.P.O. also plans to organize food festivals, cultural programmes, film festivals, fashion shows etc.

India's presence at the premier IGA Royal Show presents a show window to our capabilities in addressing the requirements of the Australian market. Let me assure you that our participation will open the door to a world of business given the range and scale of display. In that sense, it would be a perfect business sequel to this 'Interactive Business Session' and to our presence at the Royal Show. With these words, I take great pleasure in wishing this interactive business session and all its participating buyers and sellers all success in their interactions.
