MSME Ministry, ILO sign MoU to support 'Make in India' pgrm

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi on Monday.
The Secretary, MSME Madhav Lal welcomed and expressed hope for greater synergies between the sake holder.
He further added that the MoU will form the basis for a technical partnership with the primary objective of creating more and better quality employment in India.
"Its activities will be focused around three priority areas; entrepreneurship development, good workplace practices for improving productivity and enhancing integration into global supply chains, and research and knowledge-building related to sustainable enterprises and formalization strategies."
The MOU is initially for a 5-year period and will support the Government's "Make in India" programme.
Madhav Lal, Secretary, MSME and Tine Staermose, Director, Decent Work team for South Asia and Country Office of India signed the MOU on behalf of their organizations.
Moreover Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently unveiled key labour reforms to create a conducive environment for industry and bring better social security benefits for workers.
The prime minister also unveiled the Shram Suvidha portal, a Labour Inspection Scheme, as also the portability of social security through a Universal Account Number for Employees Provident Fund at an event in Vigyan Bhavan conference complex here. He also launched Apprentice Protsahan Yojana of the labour ministry.

KICK START TO MAKE SUBSTITUTE FOR IMPORTED GOODS

There are many middle aged aspiring entrepreneurs with substantial savings in hand. They are fence sitters as they are unable to decide the product and ho wto market it. Too many Chinese made goods are being imported to India. It would be a good idea for MSME officials to encourage retired professional to form clusters of start up consultants across the country to study and advise these potential entrepreneurs to kick start manufacturing substitutes for these imported simple products with added improvement. Of course these consultants will be paid a an advance fee, but balance fee only after the product hit the market
