Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are facing tough competition from Chinese imports, MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra informed in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

"Strong competition from China faced by Indian small industries is evident in high growth of India's imports from China," Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister Kalraj Mishra said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

In fact, 68 percent of the inbound shipments from China comprise of products largely manufactured by Indian MSEs, leading to both countries vying for market space in India.

As per information compiled from Director General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics in respect of eight major product groups largely manufactured by the small scale industries (SSIs) in India, imports from China grew at a higher rate than their respective imports from all countries combined during 2010-11 to 2013-14, reports media.

"As these eight product groups accounted for 68 per cent of India's total imports from China in 2013-14, a significant proportion of Indian SSIs are seen to be facing greater competition from China as compared to the rest of the world," Mishra said.

These groups include Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical & Metallurgical and Chemical & Glass & Ceramics.

N M D CHETTY | Wed Jul 30 10:37:22 2014
Chinese Imports will kill all your MSME's and with it your Industries and would create massive unemployment to that already exists. Many Countries in Africa, including RSA are seriously affected. KEEP THEM OUT. We have Constructive ALTERNATIVES and Effective SOLUTIONS to develop Industrial MSME's to compete and dislodge them from ever entering our India. We can develop India ourselves with the Indian People in the Subcontinent to to become a vibrant Industrial Giant, GUARANTEED. You need to trade and not with Countries which will destroy the Industries, People and the Country. We will manufacture & Produce the 8 Product groups in India. We need to take this message to the Hon Minister as we are submitting our documents directly and to His Excellency our Indian Prime Minister, N Modiji. Come India lets start the Industrial Revolution, WE ARE READY?

Import From China

Dear Sir, if only govt regulates the Import from china i feel that would give boost to the dying Indian Industry. by regulate I mean that govt keeps a check on under invoicing and wrong declaration by importers. At present 100% of imports from china is under invoiced and a parallel hawala network is operational

Absolutely correct, these are merciless rascals who will employ all forms of bribes, deceit and dishonesty to penetrate weaknesses. Stop Imports from China. Where is the fear? India, you must check every single import from China or you face major disaster and decline. Cordone each Port and have Inspectors based there. Their cheap subsidised Exports are not worth the salt. We do not take their nonsense, not at all. We can face them head on and witness how an Indian will make them retract.

Why are Chinese products popular in India?
Rajesh Khandelwal | Thu Jul 24 13:23:52 2014
Better Designs, better use of advanced materials, Cheap price, excessive under valuation of imported products at Indian Customs, Higher margins for traders, creating business across the value chain and supply chain. Small quantity purchase possible by small traders as no fixed distribution monopoly exists. Lopsided or Inverted Imported policy in favour of Imported finished goods, Importing Mafias control the Customs and Excise Departments policy making authorities. Imports and Exports help tremendously in round tripping of Black money across the globe easily, availability of long term credit to major importers of finished goods and other perks and benefits to their purchase officers posted in Country from where goods are exported. Traders feel it safe to import and sell locally rather than export and not be guaranteed of Export remittances on time to be troubled by DRI, RBI and all banks, difficult to get export finance. Many Issues - Government is Corrupt and Sleeping with the enemies all the time.

From experience, there are NO better designs nor advanced materials, their Products are NOT to International Standards and of low Quality. Those importing Chinese Products and disregarding their own manufacture is based on greed to amass wealth at the expense of the innocent poor in a Country where unemployment is high. These Chinese Importers are the destroyers of the Indian Economy, the People and the Country, just to amass wealth. The new Government must act swiftly to stop these Chinese Imports which will destroy India, where Compassion,NOT Trade dictates. We can only suggest.

It is govt. policies. if you see work environment, electric power rate and availability, labour laws, laws regulating export, we stand no where near Chinese manufacturers.
