Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's office Sunday went on Twitter to highlight the achievements of his government, just after his speech at the Congress rally where he said the UPA government's economic policies had benefitted the people.

At the rally at Ramlila Maidan, the prime minister said the United Progressive Alliance government in the past eight years has set a "record for economic development, and achieved many goals in rail, road, power generation...But this is not enough, we will continue to work to ensure the benefits of development reach all equally."

The Prime Minister's Office posted several tweets to back his statement, and all were accompanied by graphs from various ministries.

One tweet went: "Fact: More than 70 million of households were connected to banking facilities in last 10 years - a record."

It was accompanied by a graph to show that 7.74 crore new households started to avail of banking facilities between 2001-11.

Another went: "FACT: Agriculture support has increased more than 10 times during last 8 years." The graph showed support had increased from Rs.50 a quintal, during 2000-2004 to Rs.645 a quintal now.

"More than 60 million households got new electricity connections during a decade - again a record" - went another post.

"Credit to farmers has increased nearly five times in last 8 years - a record." The graph showed it had increased from Rs.100,000 crore in 2004-05 to over Rs.500,000 crore in 2011-12.

"FACT: India's Social Services Expenditure has more than doubled during last 8 years - a record."

The accompanying graph, courtesy the economic survey, showed expenditure increased from Rs.239,340 crore in 2006-07 to Rs.600,516 crore in 2011-12 (budget estimates), while the revised estimates of 2010-11 was Rs.562,970 crore.

"FACT: India's per capita income has more than doubled during last 8 years - a record."

The graph, from the ministry of finance, showed it has increased from Rs.24,143 in 2004-05 to Rs.53,331 in 2010-11, quick estimates, and Rs.60,603 in 2011-12, according to revised estimates.
