Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) especially young entrepreneurs need to 'think beyond, look beyond and move beyond', said Bikky Khosla, CEO, tradeindia.com on Friday.

Addressing a conference - Entrepreneur India 2012, organized by Franchise India in New Delhi on Friday, Khosla mentored a road-map to become a successful entrepreneur to the young SMEs who have joined the two-day conference.

Khosla said SMEs, especially the young ones must have drive to do. "Once you have drive in you . . . you can achieve things," he said, adding, "There is no mantra for success -- it's a law of combination of things that helps a person to be a successful entrepreneur".

"Things are changing, and accepting change is the biggest thing. And every human being has total resistance to change. We are living in the information age, everything around the world is changing so fast, and so we have to change ourselves accordingly. Every entrepreneur wants to grow, nobody wants to stagnate, so what I believe strongly is . . . you should be very-very open to change and must believe in this information age. You can't just be isolated and keep doing your business. So what I believe if you don't know what is happening, and you are not doing enough research and reading, it becomes little difficult to be progressive in your business."

He suggested the listeners to think positive and even to talk positive. "You got to be positive, think big and believe in it. Once you start thinking positive, your mind starts working; you start dreaming about it and things start happening. It is not somebody else is doing it but your body reaction and your language change. And that is one of the keys to success," Khosla said.

Talking about very practical things of success, Khosla told youths that they need not to scare of failure, but learn from failure; they must be very focused towards their goal. He said, "When you are starting a new business do not do too many things at the same time."

After a successful start of a business one need to build a strong team, he said. "When you start a business and it starts growing you got to build a team. You start to do several things, but single people don't win, teams win. And building those team is the most critical thing. You have to build a strong team otherwise you won't be a team player."

The event was supported by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Indian Franchise Association, and National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC). Franchise India presented this second annual 'Entrepreneur Summit 2012' with the theme "Creating Opportunities, Making Leaders"

On the sidelines of the event, Chairman and Managing Director of NSIC, Dr. H P Kumar told SME Times, "This incubation of unemployed people to create self-employed opportunities is the biggest project, which NSIC has launched and we would expect that all those people who are looking for starting their own enterprises should take the benefits of this incubation model."

Giving insights about the event, Gaurav Marya, President, Franchise India said, "A new breed of Indian entrepreneur has emerged that is looking beyond, thinking big and is exuding the confidence and courage required to head a global enterprise."

"Entrepreneur India 2012 is designed as a forum to host the forward thinking required by business owners who are keen on transformative growth and put collective wisdom together to create a new leading India," he added.

The Summit includes most enriching and enlightening keynote, speaker sessions, panel discussion, and interactive sessions with successful and distinguished entrepreneurs and corporates, networking and business mentoring hubs, etc. Some eminent key speakers of this convention include N. K. Maini, Deputy Managing Director, SIDBI; Rajiv Bajaj, Vice Chairman & MD, Bajaj Capital Ltd; Dr. O P Manchanda, Chief Executive Officer, Dr Lal PathLabs (LPL); Pradeep Hirani, Chairman & Managing Director, Kimaya Fashions Pvt. Ltd; Dr. Mukesh Batra, Founder, Dr Batra's Homoeopathy; David Wittenberg, Chief Executive Officer, The Innovation Workgroup; Kuku S Kumar, VP, FIWE (Federation of Women Entrepreneurs).

SME`s need to be supported with timely payments and bank to support them with soft loans with low interest rate of 4% PA Technical competency makes them loose control on managing fund flow.

That's true. These basics are often ignored and as a result SMEs suffer.

I feel schools at their level need to organise work shops for business and entrepreneurial skills! The mind has to start thinking from a much early stage !
