The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Wednesday said that special schemes launched by the ministry to promote women entrepreneurship in the North-Eastern Region have resulted in more employment generation for women in the region.      

The ministry promotes schemes and programmes that have special dispensation for women entrepreneurs in the North-Eastern Region leading to more employment generation for women of these region, an official statement said.

According to the Census of MSME (Fourth Census ), the MSME schemes have created employment for the highest number of women in the state of Assam (62527), followed by Tripura (6779), Mizoram (5231), Manipur (3948), Nagaland (3371), Meghalaya (2728), and Arunachal Pradesh (1320).

The census was conducted with reference year 2006-07 wherein  data was collected till 2009 and result  published in 2011.

"The Ministry facilitates promotion of new enterprises through schemes relating to credit, infrastructure development, technology up-gradation, marketing and entrepreneurship skill development programmes in the country," added the press statement.
