Following the Prime Minister’s clarion call of ‘Start up India, Stand up India’ from the ramparts of the Red Fort, NASSCOM, TiE Silicon Valley, and IIM Ahmedabad’s CIIE India are hosting the first India- U.S. Startup Konnect in the Silicon Valley on 27th September, to showcase the strengths of India’s startup ecosystem. This day-long event, on the side of the prime minister’s visit to the Silicon Valley, will highlight the multiple dimensions of Indian innovation capabilities, represented by more than 30 startups across a variety of sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, energy, financial inclusion, and biotechnology, as well as leading technology business incubators in the country. These startups will also exhibit their products, prototypes, and achievements to investors and other potential Valley partners. The Prime Minister will visit the exhibition to encourage the Indian startups exhibiting their products there. The PM has also graciously agreed to address the India U.S. Startup Konnect, and share his vision on ‘Start up India, Stand up India’.

At this event, NASSCOM will also sign an MOU with TiE Silicon Valley to facilitate a Start-up exchange and collaboration program. IIM Ahmedabad’s business incubator CIIE shall be signing MoUs with corporates and academic partners in the U.S. to collaboratively build and scale-up disruptive innovations for India, through financial assistance and collaboration.

Mr. R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM said “Crafting the India of tomorrow is our collective responsibility. With India-U.S. Startup Konnect, we aim to showcase success stories of Indian entrepreneurs to highlight the rapidly rising global impact of technology innovation from India. We also aim to further accelerate the strong interface that exists between India and U.S. start-up ecosystem. We would like to thank Prime Minister Modi for encouraging us in this national endeavour to fuel India’s start-up economy and bring technology centre stage in driving the country’s development and inclusion agenda."

With the ‘Start up India, Stand up India’, Prime Minister has put his emphasis squarely on entrepreneurship and job creation, announcing incentives for companies that generate employment and promote bank financing for startups by the underprivileged.

"The highlight of the day-long event will be an exhibition by innovative Indian startups – often working under the radar across areas as diverse as healthcare, agriculture, energy, technology and aerospace. “These startups are representative of the changing India where apart from just creating solutions for the upper middle-class urban consumer of India, the innovators are leveraging technology and their experiences to create massive impact by solving some tougher problems”, said Kunal Upadhyay, CEO, CIIE.
