Huawei and Infosys Jointly Launch Smart Stadium Solution

NewsVoir | 20 Oct, 2015
Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider and Infosys (NYSE: INFY), a global leader in consulting, technology, outsourcing and next generation services, today announced the launch of a Smart Stadium Solution to provide high-speed Wi-Fi access and smart services for users in stadiums and exhibition centers. The solution integrates Huawei’s Agile Network and Infosys’ Entertainment Experience Platform. This solution can be combined with entertainment hubs to enable innovative service experiences and operational models.

Since the launch of its Agile Stadium Solution in 2012, Huawei has been operating wireless network projects for sports stadiums worldwide, providing high-speed Internet services for spectators. However, with rising mobile consumption and rapidly advancing digital marketing standards, Internet services alone are inadequate to meet the requirements of stadium operators and the spectators for a seamless experience. Stadium operators need end-to-end solutions, including wireless networks and innovative services.

This need for better connected stadiums has brought Huawei and Infosys together. Huawei has accumulated extensive experience in the networking realm and Infosys has rich experience in engineering large-scale omni-channel consumer engaging products and solutions, spanning online, mobile, social as well as unified communications technologies. The Smart Stadium Solution is based on a fully connected WLAN network and enables an enhanced user experience and better connected stadiums. With this joint solution, Huawei provides the WLAN network infrastructure while Infosys offers a multi-tenant, cloud-based platform with managed operations and services. Huawei’s Agile Controller transmits user and terminal information to Infosys’ service platform through network interfaces, assisting stadium operators in provisioning innovative services and gaining more revenue.

Some of the services the solution offers are:

- Single sign-on to Wi-Fi and in-stadium services

Logging on to the Wi-Fi network through a mobile app is the single authentication for end users, enabling them to avail a variety of online services. The app becomes a platform offering services for in-stadium engagements like social media, campaigns, shopping, along with a host of other services

- Location-based campaigns

According to the terminal location obtained by the WLAN network, a user’s app can receive relevant location-based information such as special offers and exhibition center services

- Contextualized and targeted marketing

The Infosys Entertainment Experience Platform combines the physical and the digital to provide personalized, scenario-specific content

- Multi-tenant platform

The platform supports multiple locations and operators at the same venue. The cloud-based platform is scalable, reliable and can offer both B2B and B2C services

The solution enables applications to schedule network resources, while allowing innovation on the network. The value of this partnership lies in its ability to enhance both the match-watching experience for spectators and stadium operations for event organizers..

Quotes

Sudip Singh, Senior Vice President and Global Head, Engineering Services, Infosys:

“Today’s entertainment hubs offer a great opportunity for traditional physical entities to transform themselves by adding a digital layer. The potential to deliver value to stakeholders – attendees and entertainment center owners – increases exponentially because of the intersection of the physical and the digital. Infosys’ rich Entertainment Experience Platform, together with Huawei’s market-leading Wi-Fi infrastructure, unlocks this value. This joint global solution will deliver a truly engaging end-user experience while unlocking significant business opportunities to entertainment center owners and event sponsors.”

Ma Da, General Manager for Agile Network Solution, Huawei:

“The critical point of the Smart Stadium Solution is to link all people, games, terminals, and displays in the stadium through a fully connected wireless network. Moreover, through the in-depth coupling of the network and applications, our solution brings spectators an excellent and enjoyable experience. Stadium operators and event sponsors can also achieve more effective operations via the fully-connected digital platform.”

Till date, Huawei has deployed Wi-Fi networks in more than 20 famous stadiums worldwide, including the home stadiums of Borussia Dortmund (BVB) in Germany, AFC Ajax in the Netherlands, St. Louis Rams of NFL in the US, and Gold Coast Suns in Australia, as well as the national stadiums of countries such as China, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.
