- The new PDC will create in all over 80 new jobs through its operations along with numerous new jobs created indirectly

A new regional Parts and Distribution Centre (PDC) was inaugurated today by Volkswagen Group Sales India in Bangalore to strengthen its hold in the southern region of the country. The PDC will ensure 1-day delivery time of genuine parts to the dealerships and authorised service stations in South India, thus strengthening the After Sales network of the company.

The new PDC has been constructed in only 10 months since its ground breaking ceremony in July 2014. Present at the inauguration were Mr. Thierry Lespiaucq, Managing Director – Volkswagen Group Sales India, Mr. Berndt A Buchmann, Director of Group After Sales and Vehicle Logistics and Mr. Vinod Prakash Shivhare, Head of Group Parts Logistics, and other senior officials of Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited along with authorised dealers from the region.

“Our new PDC in Bangalore is strategically important for us as South India contributes to around 30 percent of parts’ sales in the country. With this facility in Bangalore we will be able to increase the efficiency of our After Sales, to improve the delivery of urgent spare parts to our dealers within 24 hours and furthermore to take  the  quality of service  to our customers to a new level”, said Mr. Berndt A Buchmann at the inauguration.

The newly opened PDC in the state of Karnataka is an integral part of the network strategy under “Depot Network Development Project” and the second one in India after the Regional PDC in Gurgaon which has been functional since 2012. The new state-of-the-art facility has been designed by Volkswagen Group Sales India in co-operation with Volkswagen AG worldwide and it fulfils the latest global standards of Volkswagen.

With its strategic location, the PDC in Bangalore will significantly contribute in reducing the current lead-time in providing genuine parts to the 67 dealers across the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Goa and Kerala. This facility will distribute parts for all available models sold by the brands Volkswagen in India

Having invested around INR 30 crore for the building infrastructure, racks, office and IT equipment in this facility by Volkswagen Group Sales India, it will have a workforce of approximately 80 qualified employees working and guaranteeing fast and reliable delivery of spare parts.

The addition of the new Regional PDC in Bangalore is a strategically important investment by Volkswagen Group India to further strengthen the efficiency of its After Sales and Spare Parts Distribution and the service quality of its dealerships to the customers.

The PDC covers a total area of over 5,000 sq. m and has value added facilities such as rain water harvesting system, an efficient ventilation system and fire protection infrastructure, modern material handling and IT equipment. “When we built the new PDC, our focus was not only on improving our productivity, but also on providing highest level of safety as well as environment-friendly operations at the workplace. We are also offering our employees one of the best working environments at this PDC” added Mr. Buchmann.
