NASSCOM Partners with the Maharashtra Government

As part of fast-tracking its effort to reach out to maximum number of entrepreneurs, NASSCOM’s 10,000 Start-Up Program has entered into a strategic partnership with Government of Maharashtra to open a start-up warehouse in Navi Mumbai and Pune. The MoU signing ceremony was held in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Sh. Devendra Fadnavis and Hon. Subhash Desai, Minister of Industries along with Mr. Bhushan Gagrani, CEO of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and Mr. R. Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM, NASSCOM delegates, along with other industry leaders and entrepreneur community.

 

The key objectives behind the strategic partnership is to build entrepreneurial capabilities in the state, create a vibrant online community to link investors, mentors and start-up entrepreneurs, and create massive awareness about tech-entrepreneurship a preferred career option. The program will also organize common application process in consultation with Department of Industries and MIDC to generate massive volumes of startup applications and make relevant connections to the investing community.

 

The new start-up warehouses will be set-up by NASSCOM in association with MIDC will provide for physical infrastructure by providing space for IT start-ups and incubation centers at a nominal rent with all necessary amenities. Aimed to capture the essence of entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of Maharashtra, the setup will provide early stage technology start-ups with highly affordable co-working space conveniently located in the centre of the city, thereby establishing Navi Mumbai and Pune as one of the emerging destinations of global businesses and start-ups.

 

On the occasion of launch, Mr. R. Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM said, “Maharashtra and Mumbai has always been the business hub of India. The state has always known for its innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities and India is brimming with shining examples like the Tatas and the Ambanis. The state has always been very supportive for the new businesses with its friendly policy structure. With the new government’s focus on creating a conducive ecosystem for businesses and entrepreneurship to grow, I am sure this new warehouse will provide a platform for the young minds to breed. NASSCOM is happy to set-up center of excellence for innovation and entrepreneurship and thank the Government for all their support and cooperation.”

 

Maharashtra is one of the front runner in terms of entrepreneurial spirit and is expected to grow faster in the near future with an entrepreneur friendly IT Policy. Further, Mumbai and Pune are home to hundreds of engineering colleges and innumerable technical institutes to have exactly similar start-up warehouses with support of the respective state governments. Financially supported by the Government of Maharashtra, the warehouse will be managed by NASSOCM’s 10,000 Start-ups program.

 

NASSCOM’s 10,000 Startups Program is supported by Google, Microsoft, Intel, IBM, AWS and Kotak.

Firstly, MIDC has decided to develop start-up warehouses in MBP, Navi Mumbai and Kharadi, Pune.  After getting well response, then it will be decided to start-up remaining IT Parks.

 

The investment for the said 2 Start up /set up Warehouses is as follows :-

For MBP, New Mumbai -      Rs. 1.75 Cr.

For Pune                         -       Rs. 2.00 Cr.

 

Mr. Bhushan Gagrani, Chief Executive Officer, MIDC will give support to these Start-up in Maharashtra State by initiating Navi Mumbai and Pune Start IT Parks.
