Mahindra Participates in FAME - India Eco Drive 2015

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a part of the US $ 16.9 billion Mahindra Group, today participated in the FAME India Eco Drive 2015, on the occasion of World Environment Day, with its fleet of electric vehicles powered by Reva.

A public awareness initiative to promote the use of hybrid and electric vehicles, the FAME India Eco Drive was organized by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India in Association with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), SMEV and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).

Shri Anant Geete, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India, flagged off the event in the presence of Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India from India Gate in New Delhi this morning.

Speaking on this initiative, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra said, “At Mahindra, we are delighted to be part of the first ever mega green rally and the largest ever gathering of electric vehicles in the country. We are thankful to the Government of India for championing the cause of sustainable and emission-free mobility solutions for the future. Given the current era of rising concern about global warming and higher fossil fuel costs, this is indeed a drive for a greener and better tomorrow. Further, with the recently announced FAME scheme, the Government has already set in motion a conducive environment for the ownership and adoption of electric vehicles in the country. We at Mahindra are committed to the Future of Mobility ". 

From the Mahindra stable, a fleet of 10 Mahindra e2os, 4 electric Veritos and 1 electric Maxximo participated in the country’s first ever mega green-vehicle rally, covering a distance of 21 kilometres from India Gate to IGI Airport Terminal 3.

Aimed at creating awareness and buzz among citizens about the benefits and utility of electric vehicles, a number of Mahindra customers joined hands for this Eco Drive, as enthusiastic proponents of electric vehicles and clean technology.

Mahindra e2o - Mahindra e2o (powered by Reva), is the future-ready, next generation all-electric, zero emission vehicle. The car is equipped with a fully automatic transmission with Boost Mode for quick acceleration and a range of 100kms, making it ideal for city driving. Mahindra Reva has also installed 100 public charging points across Bengaluru city, ensuring the customer is just 5 kms away from a charge point anywhere in the city. Electric Maxximo - The Maxximo Electric Van is an 8-seater zero-emission mini-van powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries. Capable of covering a distance of 100 kilometers on a single charge, the Maxximo Electric Van is fully-automatic and can hit an electronically limited top-speed of 65 kilometers per hour. It is suitable for all weather conditions and is built to high standards of safety and reliability. Expected to be production ready by FY-2016, the Maxximo Electric Van can be a preferred option for first and last mile connectivity for Metro rail and BRTS systems, school vans, corporate employee commuting solutions and can further serve the purpose of campus commuting.

Electric Verito – Powered by the latest EV drive train from Mahindra Reva, this electric, connected and fully automatic sedan offers an exceptionally smooth drive and noiseless driving experience with features like hill-hold and great stand-still pick up. The electric Verito can be home charged and is also compatible with solar charging for 100% green commuting.
