MAMA, The New SDA Bocconi Master for Future Managers of Art

PR Newswire | 12 Jan, 2015
MILAN, Italy: Art and management, a marriage of passion and interest. Celebrating this union is MAMA, the new Master in  Arts Management and Administration at the SDA Bocconi School of Management. It is a unique program to enhance strategic, cultural and economic assets, and offer valuable career opportunities both in Italy and abroad.

A full-time program lasting 12 months and taught entirely in English, MAMA offers participants the opportunity to gain knowledge of management theories and practical skills specific to arts and culture. In addition to traditional classroom sessions taught by SDA Bocconi faculty, the program includes meetings, seminars and field projects with prestigious partners. Furthermore, we collaborate with FAI (Italian Environment Fund), as well as institutions such as the Filarmonica della Scala, the Fondazione Arena di Verona, the Vatican Museums, MUVE (Foundation for the Civic Museums of Venice) and the Teatro Franco Parenti.

The new Master, which starts in September 2015, is an international program targeting humanities graduates and professionals who are working for organizations operating in the artistic and cultural sectors, such as museums, theatres and festivals.

It offers a complete picture of the industry and its operational aspects, ranging from organizational structures to HR management, from marketing to fundraising, and from creative entrepreneurship to business planning. The program also provides concentration courses dedicated to the production of operas and festivals, to the management of museums and artistic heritage, and to art and digital media.

"Supporting artistic innovation and promoting the dissemination of culture," Alex Turrini, Director of MAMA, "is only possible if you are able to combine passion and respect for art with entrepreneurial and managerial skills. MAMA is a unique training program; it is international and deeply Italian. So it brings together the cultural excellence and artistic splendour of our country with the experience of SDA Bocconi in management education."
