ASUS Zenfone 5 Wins 'Budget Smartphone of the Year' Award

MUMBAI: The event, held on November 14th 2014 during CeBIT in Bangalore, also saw Micromax A1, Swipe Sense 5 and Intex Cloud FX vying for the top spot in the budget smartphone category. The runner ups for the laptop category were Toshiba Satellite P50 (4k Display), HP Envy 15 J-001TX and Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (7537).

The Zenfone 5 had received a substantial response in the fiercely competitive Indian market since its launch in July, racking up over 2.8 lakh in sales within a quarter.

In terms of specifications, Zenfone 5 sports a 5-inch IPS panel that delivers high-definition (HD) 1280 x 720-pixel resolution shielded with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone houses an 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Dual-Core Z2560 processor with 2GB RAM backed by a 2110 mAh battery. Zenfone 5 currenly runs on Android Kitkat 4.4 OS, but ASUS has confirmed that the smartphone will receive the latest Lollipop OS soon.

Other features of Zenfone 5 include PenTouch and GloveTouch technologies, an 8-megapixel PixelMaster primary camera with exclusive ASUS PixelMaster technology and a 2-megapixel secondary camera. The smartphone comes in a range of colours - black, white, red, purple, and gold, and is priced at Rs. 9,999.
