UBM India Presents Golden Hand Awards

KOLKATA: UBM India announced The Kolkata Jewellery & Gem Fair 2014 (KJGF'14), the first-ever initiative of its kind in the city and state. The KJGF'14 is a three-day B2B jewellery mega trade fair, to be held from 11th January to 13th January, 2014 at Milan Mela Exhibition Complex, with a unique feature - The Golden Hand Award.

The award is sponsored by M P Jewllers; one of the pioneers of jewellery business in East India and was unveiled by Shri Bipin Roy Chowdhury of M P Jewellers. This unique initiative has honoured the unspoken heroes of the jewellery trade - the traditional 'kaarigars' who painstakingly create beautiful pieces through their craftsmanship.

The award ceremony was organized with the first ever Jewellery Fashion Show in Kolkata - Style Statement on the evening of 11th January, 2014 at Hotel ITC Sonar Bangla on E M Bypass, Park Circle Connector. Raima Sen was the show stopper for the show.

The official jury judging process for the first ever Golden Hand Awards took place on 7th January, 2014. Industry pioneers, Bachraj Bamalwa, Subir Sen, Pankaj Parikh, Shankar Sen and Bablu De with a keen eye for creativity, design and presentation, judged over 70 jewellery designs submitted by jewellery artisans from Kolkata and neighbouring areas.

The winners of the Golden Hand Award - Gold Category are:

The winners of the Golden Hand Award - Diamond Category are:

1) Sameer Das

2) Bablu Parui

3) Bipul Poddar

The Kolkata Jewellery & Gem Fair, 2014 is expected to put the city of Kolkata on the world map, not only as the perfect destination of handcrafted gold jewellery, but also as the capital of the best jewellery creations in the world. The fair will be represented by jewellery manufacturers from all over India as well as international participants, showcasing intricate modern and traditional jewellery designs through plain and studded gold jewellery, loose diamonds and stones, gifting articles and machinery equipments. One of the attractions for the local jewellers will be the dedicated machinery pavilion promoting technical knowhow in modern jewellery manufacturing. This fair catering to over 160 leading exhibitors, will reach out to over 6000 buyers.
