Magicbricks Gains Market Share and Dominates Property Portals

PR Newswire | 30 Dec, 2014
NEW DELHI: Magicbricks Trumps on Most Major Traffic Metrics That comScore Publishes. In Fact, Data Shows That Magicbricks Dominates to the Extent That, on Several Metrics, it is Bigger Than the Next Two Portals Added Together.

The property portal industry has been abuzz with investments being made by VC firms across different portals. While such activity generates a lot of PR, it might shroud the actual performance of portals during this period and the trends therein. Here are the graphs that show how the market has evolved over the last 12 months, using data from comScore, the industry standard for third party traffic data (web) -

Converting this data into relative market share between the top six players, shows Magicbricks has

- 45% market share in terms of total visits;

- 38% market share in terms of unique visitors;

- 38% market share in terms of total time spent and

- 36% market share in terms of page views.

Importantly, the trend over the last 12 months clearly shows that Magicbricks has been gaining market share and has widened its lead.

"We remained deeply focused on doing the right things for our end users, which would help them in their property search. We've avoided the temptation to do things which might make for good PR, but which may not perform for the mass-user base on our site. In the last several months, we've worked hard at improving data quality, accuracy of listings, re-launching our entire mobile suite, etc. We're encouraged that our efforts are showing strong results. We continue to invest in improving our product and you will see several initiatives soon," states Sudhir Pai, Business Head, Magicbricks.com.

This significant performance on traffic has been driven on the back of building the largest pool of (2 lakh+) high-quality listings, which are all less than 60 days old; an overall listing pool which exceeds 7 lakh active listings; a large growth in owner/landlord listings, which currently stands at over 1.25 lakh listings.

With offices in over 34 cities across India, a mobile suite re-launch covering new Android, iOS and WAP sites, new features and unique content, Magicbricks is the clear market leader, providing the biggest platform for buyers and sellers of property to connect with each other in a clear and transparent manner.
