Rockland Crosses Another Milestone by Upgrading its Facilities to International Standards

DELHI: Mr Oscar Fernandes appreciated the role India can play in the area of health care by leveraging its world class doctors and paramedic manpower and shared his experience of introducing the latest technology in ESIC during his stint as the Minister in charge of the Labour & Employment.

India has the potential of becoming the medical care hub for the world due to its world class doctors, comfort with technology and a huge low cost advantage compared to the developed economies. The advantages are similar to what we have witnessed in the IT sector. Flying the patients and doctors from some of the developed countries with stay and treatment would still be far more economical for the insurance companies and governments who are finding it a challenge to meet the health care expenses in their own countries.

"Foreign exchange earning potential in this sector is very high and we are already witnessing an over 100% growth year on year in the incoming international patients. On the other end a good health delivery mechanism can allow the large hospitals to leverage their capabilities to help the doctors in the clinics and small nursing homes and hospitals to reach out up to village levels. This will improve the quality of health care at all levels." said Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman, Rockland Hospitals

Rockland Qutab Hospital has upgraded its diagnostic capabilities in line with the new group hospitals at Manesar and Dwarka in the Delhi NCR which have been built to international standards. Rockland Hospitals was recently awarded the prestigious NABL certification as recognition of the quality of its laboratory services. The latest up gradation by installing state of the art CT and MRI the patients will benefit greatly through better and sharper imaging.

The ongoing up gradation includes the installation of a CT - Philips 128 Slice, top of the line CT, and a Philips 1.5 T MRI. Philips 1.5 T MRI has the magnet with the best homogeneity in 1.5T with maximum FOV in the Industry. This MRI equipment has a proven and an industry leading scanning protocols with the fastest scan time in its segment.

Philips 128 Slice top of the line CT has the best cardiac scanner for variable heart rate and is considered the best in the industry temporal resolution. It has the widest applications available for the entire spectrum of radiology and cardiology work. One of the biggest advantages of this equipment is low radiation for all applications.

Rockland Medical Corridor

As a part of their expansion plans, the Rockland Hospitals are building a medical corridor to cover the entire Delhi NCR from Manesar on the western side to Noida on the eastern side. Three multi speciality hospitals with a total beds capacity of over 800 beds have already been launched and are fully operational in Manesar, Dwarka and south Delhi. Land for the Noida unit has already been acquired and the plans are on to complete this hospital by 2015-16. The medical corridor in addition to the hospitals will also have a Medical College at Manesar and a Para Medical College at Noida.

Rockland Health Network

Rockland Group is looking at inorganic growth by building a network model of healthcare delivery as a part of their long term expansion plans. This will be done through a five layered model connecting the Rockland tertiary care hospitals with small hospitals, nursing homes and clinics with the last leg connectivity through health volunteers. This model will be replicated in a phased manner to cover the entire north and north east India.

"The Health Network creation process will begin by mid of this year. In the first phase, the Rockland Manesar Hospital plans to connect with 400 clinics and 40 small hospitals." said Rajesh Srivastava, Chairman, Rockland Hospitals Group.

The benefits of the network healthcare delivery model will be in several forms. A centralized diagnostic team of doctors at Rockland, for example, can read and interpret the reports generated at far off locations where finding a good radiology doctor may not be easy or could be a very costly affair. This can help reduce wrong diagnosis which can lead to wrong treatment many a times. The network doctors would be able to collaborate with super specialist doctors to improve the quality of treatment. Patients will benefit to a great extent by having access to quality treatment nearby.
