UMA Selected as 2012 Red Herring Top 100 Asia Winner

PR Newswire | 14 Sep, 2012
BANGALORE: United Mobile Apps (UMA), a mobile/broadband/wireless technology company, announced that it is selected as a 2012 Red Herring Top 100 Asia Winner, at an award function held in Hong Kong. Red Herring announced its Top 100 award in recognition of the leading private companies from Asia, celebrating these startups' innovations and technologies across their respective industries.

Red Herring's Top 100 Asia list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

Sriram V Iyer, co-Founder, UMA said, "I am very excited with UMA being a winner and part of Red Herring Asia - 100 list. It is a great validation not just for our technology but also our business as a whole. We have been creating path breaking Connection Management Platform called UConnect and are actually pushing the boundaries of what Device Manufacturers and Network Operators are expecting from a Connection Manager."

"Choosing the companies with the strongest potential was by no means a small feat," said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. "After rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across Asia to the Top 100 Winners. We believe United Mobile Apps embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. United Mobile Apps should be proud of its accomplishment, as the competition was the strongest it has ever been."

Arun Samudrala, co-Founder, UMA said, "UMA has been leading in terms of technology whether it is our UConnect - Hybrid Wireless Connection Management Platform optimized for 4G/LTE or Kepplr - Our Cross Platform Data Synchronization Platform that lets the user access his data anytime, anywhere, irrespective of the device he uses. I am very excited that we are getting recognition around the world for our technology and business."

Red Herring's editorial staff evaluated the companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration. This assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the track record and standing of startups relative to their peers, allowing Red Herring to see past the "buzz" and make the list a valuable instrument of discovery and advocacy for the most promising new business models in Asia.

Vasuki Setlur, VP - Product Management, UMA shared his excitement, "We are incredibly happy to receive this recognition. I am positive it will be a great validation to the products that we offer our customers and also approach companies all around the world with even greater confidence."
