Light Reading India to Debut in June

PR Newswire | 18 May, 2011

NEW DELHI: Light Reading India, a new online community targeted at the fast-growing India telecom marketplace, will debut on June 1 in conjunction with the first day of Light Reading's Mobile Broadband Summit, one of the largest targeted industry events for wireless communications executives in India.

India, home to more than 1.2 billion people, is arguably the world's hottest telecom market. During the past two years, India's mobile operators have added 420 million new connections (an average of 17.5 million per month, effectively doubling the size of the country's mobile community) while India's telecom service providers invested the equivalent of US$22.8 billion in new spectrum licenses during 2010 in order to launch 3G and wireless broadband services.

"Light Reading already is the world's largest telecom website, and the rollout of this new India-based community is part of our strategy to go where the growth is in the worldwide telecom market," said Joe Braue, Executive Vice President/Group Director of the Light Reading Communications Network.

With local analysis and insight from a dedicated editorial team based in New Delhi and Mumbai, Light Reading will not only highlight the key trends and developments in India's communications services market, but provide an unrivalled perspective of the global communications technology developments relevant to India's telecom industry. The team in India, led by editor Gagandeep Kaur, a veteran observer of the Indian telecom market, will be supported by Light Reading's award-winning international journalists, as well as analysts from Light Reading's two research arms, technology-focused Heavy Reading and Pyramid Research, which offers specialized market growth and telco best practice data and advice for more than 100 markets around the world.

"Our goal at Light Reading is to offer the Indian telecom market the depth, perspective and truly unbiased journalism and expert analysis," said Kaur. "We would be focusing on providing accurate and timely analysis of telecom business and technology developments. We endeavor to emulate the much-loved entertaining editorial approach of Light Reading's global coverage," Kaur added.

In addition to offering advertising partners the opportunity to reach its 17,000 registered site goers through banners, whitepaper syndication, newsletter, webinars and custom events, Light Reading India will offer video documentaries via its high-quality LRTV video production unit.
