Mumbai to Host First B2B Expo of Jewellery, Gems in December

Mumbai to be "Be-jeweled" This Festive Season!

MUMBAI, India: Mumbai is set to glitter in the first-ever edition of Jewellery & Gem Fair (MJGF) scheduled December 9 to 11, 2011 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. Its international counterpart held in Hong Kong, touted to be the world's largest jewellery event, hosted over 3,300 exhibitors from 135 countries in its latest edition.

This fair has been timed to leverage the prime buying season that extends from October to January in Mumbai, a city which has a thriving jewellery market. The value of India's jewellery exports increased by 47% over the last year alone, top buying countries being the UAE, China and the USA. The domestic market too continues to grow.

UBM's two leading shows in India, Chennai's Gem & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) the Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl & Gem Fair (HJF), together attract over 18,000 buyers.  The Mumbai fair too poised as another jewel in UBM India's crown, with over 300 exhibitors expected to participate from domestic and international markets. "The Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair will be a comprehensive B2B jewellery event providing gemstone and jewellery manufacturers an invaluable opportunity to meet potential customers," said  Sanjeev Khaira, MD UBM India

UBM has received sterling support from Mumbai Wholesale Gold Jewelers Association and other regional associations too. All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) is the Summit Partner and GIA as the Knowledge Partner. The pre-event registration undertaken by UBM has ensured significant visitors from the industry will be ensured direct entry.

Events scheduled during the fair include MJGF's IJ Choice Design Awards, fashion shows showcasing designs from exhibitors and a series of workshops by the GJF. The international presence in the show will be represented by renowned brands such as Karp, Liliy Diamonds, Brilliant Gems, Leo Schachter among others. International participants from Antwerp, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Sri Lanka, Japan and Thailand add to attraction for domestic reatiles.
