TCS Named Official Technology Partner of 2011 Boston Marathon

PR Newswire | 15 Apr, 2011

MUMBAI, India: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 523540, NSE: TCS) today announced that it is the official technology partner of the Boston Athletic Association and the 2011 Boston Marathon to be held on Monday, April 18, 2011. The agreement features a strong presence by TCS at the marathon and the three day John Hancock Sports and Fitness Expo held at the Hynes Convention Center.

TCS has also signed agreements to be the exclusive information technology consultants of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (October 9) and the official technology partner of the ING New York Marathon (November 6). This is the second year that TCS has participated in all three events and is part of a global integrated sports marketing campaign.

"Preparation. Training. Commitment. That's what it takes to succeed in marathon running – and in business. We support the commitment to excellence of all who train for and run in marathons, which is why we are proud to be a 2011 sponsor of the Boston Marathon," said N. Chandrasekaran, CEO and MD, TCS.

TCS has partnered with the Boston Marathon to sponsor and enhance the information booths that all runners and spectators visit at the expo, throughout race weekend at Copley Square and on race day at the Family Meeting Area. This year TCS will field 18 runners, including the company's CEO.

In sponsoring these events and in keeping with TCS' commitment to corporate sustainability, TCS will engage with runners, friends and family, and the broader community to share the company's commitment to health and fitness, specifically in support of the education and prevention of diabetes. A growing problem, diabetes afflicts over 220 million people worldwide and nearly 8% of Americans.

"TCS has a long tradition of giving back to the communities in which it works," said Surya Kant, President, North America, TCS. "Diabetes is a global health problem and we are doing our part to help address it. Every TCS employee who is running in these marathons has agreed to raise money for the American Diabetes Association and TCS will match those contributions and present the monies to the ADA for them to continue their work to combat this disease."
