MOSCOW: RT videos on YouTube have been viewed more than 100 million times. It's the first Russian project in the history of the video-sharing service to get beyond this mark.

The number of RT video views is 4 times higher than that of Reuters and Sky News, 11 times higher than Fox News, and 14 times higher than the number of views of CNN material on YouTube – and that's despite the fact that those channels have been on YouTube longer than RT.

"We are glad to see that professional news content from Russia is no less popular among YouTube users than entertainment videos," says Vladimir Dolgov, Director General of Google Russia. "We hope RT continues to improve its performance by using our new instruments."

This is not RT's first notable achievement on YouTube. Over the last six months, RT has repeatedly become the most-viewed channel on the website. In early December, RT held first place for nearly two consecutive days. In April, the channel again hit the Top 20 Most-Popular Channels in YouTube's international monthly ratings – only entertainment channels scored higher.

"RT's growing popularity on YouTube is a great sign that indicates our growth and how more and more popular RT is becoming, day by day. It once again shows that viewers are tired of mainstream news and look for other, alternative stories – and they're finding them on RT," says Margarita Simonyan, RT's Editor-in-Chief.
