PR Newswire | 17 Jul, 2010

PITTSBURGH: The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is pleased to announce that the SEPG Asia-Pacific 2010 conference will be held August 17-19, 2010 in Bangalore, India.

The conference will be presented in collaboration with the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM®), which is the premier trade body and the chamber of commerce of the Information Technology (IT)-Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industries in India.

"Having the opportunity to partner with NASSCOM to bring the SEPG Asia-Pacific 2010 conference to Bangalore represents the SEI's desire to conduct regional conferences for our collaborators, partners, and supporters," comments Dr. Paul D. Nielsen, chief executive officer and director of the SEI, "Bangalore, which is known as the 'Silicon Valley of India,' is home to many users of the methodologies of the SEI and has been a strong supporter of the SEI throughout our 25-year history."

Mr. Rajiv Vaishnav, vice president, NASSCOM said, "NASSCOM is proud to collaborate with the Software Engineering Institute for the SEPG Asia-Pacific 2010 Conference. Holding the SEPG Conference in India will give the Indian IT industry an opportunity to understand regional and global influences on software and system process management, and develop technical expertise in this area. Indian IT companies have been some of the quickest to adopt business-process efficiencies in the face of economic uncertainties. SEPG Asia-Pacific 2010 will be an appropriate platform for the industry to share notes on best practices with its peers from around the world."

During the three-day conference, SEPG Asia-Pacific 2010 delegates will have the opportunity to participate in two one-day tutorials on some of the SEI's most popular topics: the soon-to-be-released CMMI Version 1.3 model and the CMMI for Services model. The third day of the conference will start the NASSCOM Quality Summit Workshop where delegates will hear two engaging panel discussions. The first will feature Nielsen, senior leaders of NASSCOM, and leaders from the Indian industries discussing current trends affecting Indian IT companies. SEI senior technical staff members will lead a second panel discussion about technical developments in software process improvement at the SEI.

The NASSCOM Quality Summit Workshop, now in its seventh year, is a premier event that focuses on the need for enhancing quality across organizations.

Anita Carleton, director of the SEI's Software Engineering Process Management Program, noted that "India has long been an early-adopter of the CMMI models and has embraced the concepts of both CMMI Version 1.3 and CMMI for Services. Partnering with NASSCOM allows the SEI to bring together software process professionals from throughout the Asia-Pacific region in the dynamic setting of Bangalore."

Registration for the SEPG Asia-Pacific 2010 conference will be opening shortly through the NASSCOM website (www.nasscom.in), and special registration rates will be available to SEI Members and the SEI Partner Network.

The venue for the SEPG Asia-Pacific 2010 conference will be the ITC Royal Gardenia, which is situated in the heart of Bangalore.
