Steel production rises 5.1 pc, consumption up 4.2 pc in Apr-Nov

Country's production of finished steel from April to November rose by 5.1 per cent to 69.604 million tonnes while consumption grew by 4.2 per cent to 56.788 million tonnes during the period, a Steel Ministry report said.

India's finished steel production, during the April-October period, rose by 5.1 percent to 61.375 million tonnes (mt) while country's consumption grew by 4.5 percent to 50.337 mt in the same period, said a Steel Ministry report.

Steel consumption grows 4.6 pc, exports up 66 pc in Apr-Jun

'Exempt all stainless steel imports above 1250mm width from any further duty'

The Process Plant and Machinery Association of India (PPMAI) has written a letter to Steel Ministry to exempt stainless steel imports above 1250mm width for all grades which are currently not being manufactured in the country from any further duty so that the capital goods industries operations continue without any unease.
