India launches first R&D facility for high-end fuels, gas

Steel consumption grows 4.6 pc, exports up 66 pc in Apr-Jun

India's steel consumption grew by 4.6 percent to nearly 21 million tonne in the first quarter of the current fiscal over the same period in 2016 while the country's steel exports jumped by nearly 66 percent in the April-June period, a Ministry report said.

'Exempt all stainless steel imports above 1250mm width from any further duty'

The Process Plant and Machinery Association of India (PPMAI) has written a letter to Steel Ministry to exempt stainless steel imports above 1250mm width for all grades which are currently not being manufactured in the country from any further duty so that the capital goods industries operations continue without any unease.

Steel exports surge 69 pc, imports up 2.4 pc in May

Country's steel exports jumped by 69 percent in May to 0.641 million tonnes (mt) over the same month last year while imports were up by 2.4 per cent, according to a Steel Ministry report.

SAIL Q4 loss reduces to Rs 771.3 cr

State-run steel manufacturer SAIL reported a net loss of Rs 771.3 crore for the fourth quarter ended March, which was lower than the loss incurred in the same quarter of 2016, on the back of higher revenues during the last quarter.

Steel exports surge 142 pc, imports down 23 pc in April

Overtaking imports, India's steel exports jumped by 142 percent in April to 0.747 million tonnes (mt) as compared to 0.308 mt in the same month last year, said a Steel Ministry report.
