Travelers from over 160 countries take part each year in the world's largest airline passenger satisfaction survey, across 41 key performance indicators of airline front-line product and service, to decide the award winners.

IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh said: "It's once again a proud feeling to put India on the world map. A shot in the arm like this makes us want to strive harder."

The Skytrax awards are decided based on independent surveys completed by 19.87 million passengers from 105 different countries around the world. The Award for the world's Best Low-Cost Airline represents the global ratings achieved by all low-cost carriers. As a Quality distinction, the award is based upon customer satisfaction assessment of product and staff service standards supplied by the airline in both the cabin and airport environments.
