Tata Power on Tuesday said its total generation capacity from renewable energy sources has reached 3,060 megawatt (MW) till date in the current fiscal.

"The company's total generation from non-fossil operating capacity stands at 3060 MW, making it the largest renewable energy company in India," a Tata Power release here said.

The company's non-fossil fuel portfolio comprises 693 MW of hydro, 918 MW of solar, 1,074 MW of wind, and 375 MW of waste gas based generation, it said.

"Taking a step further towards building a greener portfolio last year, Tata Power revised its share of non-fossil fuel based capacity up to 35-40 per cent by 2025," the statement added.

"Crossing the 3000 RPT 3000 MW mark is one of the many key milestones in our endeavour to generate 35-40 per cent of Tata Power's total generation capacity from clean energy sources," company Chief Executive Anil Sardana said.

In the last fiscal, it wholly owned subsidiary, Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), completed the acquisition of Welspun Renewables Energy Private (WREPL) to become the largest renewable energy company in India.

"WREPL has one of the largest operating solar portfolios in India spread across ten states. It has about 1,008 MW of renewable power projects comprising about 862 MW solar and about 146 MW of wind power projects," the statement said.

Tata Power has renewable energy projects in states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan and is currently in the process of implementing nearly 500 MW of renewable power projects at various locations, it added.
