Leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki reported a 13.3 percent rise
in total sales, including domestic and exports, in April as compared to same
month last year, the company said on Monday.
In April, the carmaker sold 126,569 units in total, up 13.3 percent against
111,748 units sold in the corresponding month last year, a company statement
said.
The company's total domestic sales grew 16.2 percent at 1,17,045 units in the
last month as compared to 1,00,709 units in April last year, it said.
Among car segments, the sales of the mini, compact, super compact and mid size
passenger cars grew only 2.7 percent in April while company's sales in utility
vehicles' rose by a whopping 260.4 percent. It sold 16,044 units of utility
vehicles in April as against 4452 units sold in the same month last year.
The company's exports sales in April plunged by 13.7 percent to 9524 units as
compared to 11,039 units sold in the corresponding month last year.
