A top level delegation from Hyundai Heavy Industries met Petroleum Minister Dharmedra Pradhan here on Monday and expressed their keen interest in liquefied natural gas shipbuilding in India.

"Received senior delegation from Hundai. They have expressed their keen interest in LNG shipbuilding in India," Pradhan tweeted.

The Hyundai delegation's visit here follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's May visit to South Korea, during which he also visited the Hyundai Shipyard at Ulsan, where he said that shipbuilding is a "top priority" for India, met top officials.

During his visit, Modi also invited South Korean investment in areas like ship building, including LNG tankers.

Hyundai Heavy Industries is one of the biggest ship construction companies in the world. Its ship manufacturing facility in Ulsan, located on the south-eastern tip of the Korean Peninsula, is the largest shipyard in the world.
