Ashok Leyland bags 79 mn worth export orders

Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland Ltd. Monday said it has bagged export orders totalling worth USD 79.2 million.
In a statement issued Chennai, the company said it has bagged two large integrated transport projects in Tanzania and Zimbabwe, together worth USD 79.2 million.
"Besides the supply of trucks, buses, LCVs (light commercial vehicles), spares and allied support services (includes training and developmental consultancy), these projects will address a variety of mobility requirements in various tourism and economic development programmes," the statement added.
Exim Bank has financed these projects under its project export scheme.
"We have made a conscious effort to provide thrust to our international operations, and Africa is a very important part of this strategy. It is very encouraging to see our efforts bear fruit," Vinod K. Dasari, managing director was quoted as saying in the statement.
