Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Friday asked Reliance to roll out 4G services in the state by April next year.

He announced that the 4G services will be rolled out in three phases. The first phase will cover all municipalities. He asked the company to ensure that the services begin by April 1, 2015.

The chief minister also directed the officials to grant permission to Reliance to upgrade its 502 cellphone towers to 4G.

Reliance executives Rajiv Luthra and Raghu Raja met Naidu Hyderabad and sought permission to upgrade the towers, said a statement from the chief minister's office.

Stating the 4G services would play a crucial role in creating a smart Andhra Pradesh, Naidu said 4G services will initially be provided in all hospitals and educational institutions.

He said that the state's police could also use 4G services to bring down the crime rate in the state.
