Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles (MREV) has launched Mahindra e20, a zero-emission electric car, in Nepal.

The car, introduced as an urban mobility solution, is a fully-automatic car that comes with boost-mode system for rapid acceleration, said the company.

The company said electric vehicles could be a solution for a sustainable 'zero-emission society'. It may also reduce environmental degradation, pollution-related health concerns, climate change, energy security and rising oil prices.

Speaking at a launching programme, MREV Chairman Pawan Goenka said the electrical vehicles had been emerging as an alternative to fossil fuel-driven vehicles.

"With the Mahindra e20, we have taken the lead in not only creating a comprehensive ecosystem to nurture sustainable mobility solutions but have also firmly placed a choice in the hands of our customers," he added.

The advance technology fitted in the car allows the users to access the car by using remote system through a smart phone application.

The car can be charged using any 15Amp power socket available in a normal house-wiring system. The company claims that the vehicle could be fully charged in just five hours which enables it to run for over 100 km.

The high-end car features full digital-cluster, electrically-operated wing mirrors, keyless entry, projector head lamps, LED tail lamps, reverse camera, 4JBL speakers and two tweeters.

The Mahindra e20 is available in six attractive colours - Arctic Silver, Coral Blue, Eco Green, Oceanic White, Spanish Red and Sunfire Yellow.

Cabinet Shrestha, managing director of Agni Group - authorised distributor of Mahindra - said customers with the new electric cars could enjoy connectivity, convenience and mobility of an electric car with minimal cost of ownership.

Mahindra e20 has been priced at Rs.2.25 million.
