Engineering and constructions major Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Friday said it has bagged orders worth Rs.2,592 crore during the first quarter of 2012-13 for construction of residential and commercial buildings in major cities.

In the residential buildings segment, new orders worth Rs.1,206 crore have been secured for construction of multistoreyed residential towers in Bangalore and Gurgaon, including additional work in ongoing projects, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The commercial buildings segment has bagged orders worth Rs.1,165 crore, it added.

New orders worth Rs.221 crore have also been secured from leading automobile companies for the construction of factories.

At the Bombay Stock Exchange. the shares of the company closed 0.15 percent down at Rs.1,161.65.
