The Rs.600 crore
Chennai-Ennore Port road connectivity project will be completed next year,
Union Shipping Minister G.K. Vasan said Friday.
He said 32 percent of the project has been completed till date.
Handing over a cheque for Rs.50.50 crore towards equity contribution of Chennai
Port Trust (Rs.43 crore) and Ennore Port (Rs.7.5 crore) to the National
Highways Authority of India (NHAI) official, Vasan said both the ports
contribute a total of Rs.284.43 crore towards the project.
A sum of Rs.135 crore has been paid by both the ports till date towards the
project and the balance will be paid soon, he added.
Vasan said Norway-based company Kongsberg Norcontrol has been awarded the
Vessel Traffic Management Services (VTMS) Project by the Chennai Port.
The project cost is Rs.9.81 crore which includes operation and maintenance for
five years and one year warranty period.
The VTMS will be soon inaugurated, the minister said.
