LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA to showcase multi-talented use of lasers & photonics in the Indian Industries in September 2012.

India is emerging as a technology hub with its expertise in telecommunications, electronics, manufacturing, automotive and ancillary segments. Today many of the industrial segments require precision and quick turnaround of their process. This process can be accelerated by modern technologies. One of the most efficient ones is the laser and photonics technology, owing to tremendous power, flexibility, speed and quality of execution.

The development of the photonics & laser technology in India has given the impetus for Messe München International India (MMI India) to launch an exhibition in Mumbai, India for the first time from September 14 until 16 under the event brand "LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA 2012".

Commenting on the importance of lasers & photonics, Darryl Dasilva, CEO, MMI India said, "The main objective of LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA is to develop and grow diverse industrial applications in India with the use of laser technology, boost the awareness for the laser and photonics technology, deliver important impetus for Indian research institutes and universities in photonics as well as interlink the research sector and industry for the development of the technology."

The applications of photonics can be found in almost every field including information communication technologies, manufacturing, lighting, automotive, security, jewellery and medical sciences to just name a few.

Dr. Lalit Kumar, Director at Laser Science Services (I) Pvt. Ltd, commented on the significance of LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA 2012, said, "Laser Science will showcase various scientific and industrial laser systems and allied equipments from our various principals."

He also said that they consider LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA as an important platform to strengthen relations with end customers, system integrators and exhibitors.

The Laser & Photonics industry is still at a nascent stage in the country, but is known to be a contributor in generating approximately USD 500 million every year in related application sectors. But thanks to a mushrooming telecommunications & manufacturing sector, many believe that photonics will play a vital role in India’s future development.

Bala Sahane, Owner at Laser Asia, reckons that the industry for Laser and applications is maturing slowly and that people are now looking for new technologies and processes which will give them a benefit of the global front.

India has been progressively growing as global automation hub primarily on account of labour as well as easy availability of technology. Most global automakers that have major industrial production bases in India are aware of the advantages of the laser welding process in the automotive sector.

Unlike other welding techniques that require a vacuum, laser welding transmits a beam through the air. This process can be easily automated using robotic techniques. There is no radiation by the process and it provides higher quality welds.

"With the high potential in India for specific laser applications, the laser technology field is set to grow steadily over the years to come," said Indrajit Rana, Marketing Manager of TRUMPF.

This new trade show is a networking opportunity for the various industrial sectors, mainly manufacturing, electronics, processing, communication, medical technology and general lighting sectors in the energy efficient and sustainable use of photonic and laser solutions.

The fair will give laser and photonics technology its own national platform and improve its level of recognition in the Indian industry. Additionally it will be a unique opportunity for international photonics and laser companies to tap the immense potential that the Indian market offers.
