The personal computer (PC) monitor sales in top 30 cities of the country stood at 7.41 lakh units during the quarter ended Sep 30, a 17 percent growth over the 6.3 lakh units sold in the previous quarter, a study said Tuesday.

"The overall PC monitor sell-throughs in top 30 cities touched 7.41 lakh units during the July-September 2011 quarter, recording a 17 percent sequential growth on account of pre-festive buying," said the study by CyberMedia Research.

In the overall PC monitor market, LG retained leadership position with 31.3 percent share in terms of sales while Samsung and Acer took the second and third spots respectively.

In terms of LCD sales, Samsung led the pack with a 27.6 percent share followed by LG and Acer during the quarter under review.

For LED sales, LG retained the top spot with a 36.6 percent share.

The report also indicated that southern India contributed a hefty 39 percent of all PC monitor sales, followed by western, northern and eastern India.

"Among the top 5 players, LG has close to equal contribution from southern India and western India, while Acer and Dell have more than half of their sales originating from southern India," it added.
