The Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. Tuesday signed an agreement with India's Larsen & Toubro Ltd. for the construction of a gas pipeline in the country.

Mohammed Abdulla Bin Sahoo Al-Suwaidi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Gas, and K. Venkataramanan, president (operations) of L&T Ltd. inked the contract worth 695 million dirhams ($189 million).

The 122-km Habshan-Ruwais-Shuweihat gas pipeline will supply natural gas to a new refinery and Abu Dhabi's Water & Electricity Authority in Shuweihat. The project is scheduled to be completed by September 2013.

L&T hire construction labour and equipment locally.
