SME Times News Bureau | 22 May, 2020
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Rs 20 lakh crore economic package will
benefit the people of Tripura to the tune of Rs 4,802 crore apart from
other benefits, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said on Friday.
  Highlighting
the scheme-wise package and possible benefit for Tripura people, Deb
said that in each sector, schemes and package, people from all walks of
life and profession in the state would benefit immensely.
  He
said that Tripura has over 500 micro, small and medium enterprises and
several thousand people are directly and indirectly associated with the
MSME sector.
"From the financial package, the MSME sector in
Tripura will benefit by Rs 10 crore. Additional banking loan support
with less interest rate will be provided to the people involved in the
MSME sector," he said.
The Chief Minister said that both local
and migrant workers would benefit from MGNREGS, as additional funds had
been allocated for the scheme.
  "Guarantee-less banking loans
will greatly help small and medium traders, unemployed and enterprising
people. Making trade licence mandatory, the Tripura government has
providing relaxations in obtaining trade licences," he added.
  Stressing
on the expansion and development of the primary sectors of the economy,
Deb said that lakhs of people in Tripura can benefit from fisheries and
 animal resources sectors.
"For the development of fisheries and
people associated with the sector, the Tripura government has sent for
approval a project of Rs 5,000 crore to the central government. As
Tripura imports fish from other states as well s Bangladesh, the project
will help earn crores of rupees from fisheries," he added.
  Deb,
who also holds the Health and Home Departments, said that the Bharatiya
Janata Party-led government had taken a series of initiatives for
infrastructure development, especially in health sector.
  "Besides,
people of Tripura, Bangladeshi nationals will also benefit from
development of health infrastructure in Tripura as the state is
surrounded by the neighbouring country from almost all sides. Thousands
of Bangladeshis currently visit southern Indian states for medical
treatment," the Chief Minister pointed out.
