Over 2,000 national and international designers will converge in Goa
during December 6-8 to participate in what is being dubbed as the Indian
subcontinent's biggest design industry event, "NATCON 2018", organisers
said on Wednesday.
The convention is held once every two years,
when trade professionals, path-breaking artists, decision-makers and
young talent from the creative industry converge to take stock and
deliberate on the future course of the world of design.
The theme for the 2017-19 national convention being held in Goa is "Defining Design", the organisers said.
"NATCON
2018, the Maha Kumbh of designers in India, is the biggest and the most
significant event related to the design industry in the Indian
sub-continent. The convention and other events which run parallel to it
will host the biggest names in the business, who will discuss threadbare
various key aspects related to the design industry and ponder on ways
and means to make the design industry as a whole more qualitative and
cutting edge, as well as take the industry forward," Manish Kumat,
chairman, NATCON 2018, said on Wednesday.
Among those expected to
attend the event are Chief Executive Officer of the NITI Ayog, Amitabh
Kant (IAS), renowned Indian designer Rajeev Sethi and award-winning
German designer Werner Aisslinger, among others.
The event will
feature some of the biggest decision-makers in the design industry,
corporate honchos who command institutions with a turnover of Rs 200
crore to Rs. 20,000 crore, owners as well as designers, who will come on
one platform to discuss, both aesthetics as well as economics of design
and cutting-edge advancements related to the field, a statement issued
by the organisers said.
