Despite the overall slump in exports in various commodities, the exports of handicrafts in the first six months (April-September) stood at Rs. 9108.41 crores registering a growth of 9.92 percent in rupee terms, informed Rakesh Kumar, ED Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).

Handicrafts exports have been growing on an average annual growth rate of 15 percent during the last decade, he said at the IHGF-Delhi Fair Autumn 2015 in Greater Noida.

However, the growth during the 2014-15 was 7.96 percent in rupee terms and 6.82 percent in dollars terms as compared to previous year. The exports of handicrafts during the year 2014-15 was Rs. 18,639.14 crore, added Kumar.

EPCH is a nodal agency for promotion and development of handicrafts has been organizing the Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair for the last 21 years. IHGF-Delhi Fair Autumn 2015 is expected to generate huge amount of inquiries and orders.

One of major attractions of 40th edition of IHGF - renamed as IHGF Delhi Fair - Autumn 2015 is the cultural performances by Indian artists.

More than 1600 product range are on display at the fair. Therefore, there is going to be huge business activities besides interaction amongst exhibitors and buyers, as such, it becomes necessary to provide space and opportunity for unwinding strain of business, each day cultural programmes like Tandura, Kathakali, dances of Manipur, Punjabi, Kaal Belia, Dance form of Rajasthan, Kachi Ghori and many other are being organized at different locations of the fair venue so that buyers can relax and enjoy the typical Indian cultural performances and music, informed Kumar.

As per current information available, over 4000 overseas buyers from several countries of world have already been registered at the fair for sourcing their requirement of home, lifestyles and fashion products during 5 days performance. The buyers seen during serious business on first day of the fair, added Kumar.
