Karnataka women entrepreneurs have taken the lead in promoting investment in the state at an international business fair, it was announced on Tuesday.

A 22-member delegation of women entrepreneurs, led by Additional Chief Secretary Ratna Prabha, is attending the International Conference and Business Fair at Austin, in Texas in the US, from June 23 to 25, a press release here said.

The entrepreneurs representing Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), eMERG and KCCI networked with woman entrepreneurs from China, Canada, Europe and Latin America, among others.

They discussed technological development, innovation and scope for new opportunities which could catapult future growth in Karnataka.

Prabha highlighted investment opportunities in Karnataka and invited global investments through joint ventures and strategic partnerships with Karnataka women entrepreneurs, the release said.

She extended an invitation for international women entrepreneurs to attend the Global Investment Meet scheduled in Bengaluru in November.

The Karnataka government has laid special emphasis for women's entrepreneurship in its recently announced industrial policy.

It offered additional incentives and concessions for women entrepreneurs in addition to an exclusive cluster for women in textiles, gem and jewellery sectors.

The state government also offered a five percent reservation for women entrepreneurs in industrial plots in industrial areas and estates, the release said.

As many as 300 corporates, governments and exhibitors showcased their wares at the event.

Electricity is main issue & the rate for per unit is high for the industries than other states. Govt should reduce or give subsidy on the electricity which increases cost for export tenders
