The Australia-based AICA Group Saturday announced that its Engineering division - AICA Engineering India Pvt. Ltd will enter the South Indian market with solar products to tap the renewable energy market in the region.

Shiju Mathews, managing director of AICA, told the media Kochi said the products will help customers reduce their power bills.

AICA Engineering, a channel partner of India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has primarily been involved in the renewable energy sector specializing in photo voltaic (PV) systems and development, testing and installation of hybrid power systems for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial purposes.

The company has operations in Australia, UAE and Indonesia with over 5,000 installations.

"Kerala has announced to increase the installed capacity in the solar sector to 500 MW by 2017, Tamil Nadu aims to generate 3,000 MW by 2015, Karnataka has already announced installing 2,000 MW of solar power capacity by 2022 and Andhra Pradesh government is working on adding 5,000 MW of solar power by 2019. AICA Engineering is entering these markets with products and services and international experience," said Mathews.

AICA in Australia is engaged with Curtin University in the renewable energy sector and this partnership will open up new opportunities for India's various universities and colleges to have exchange programmes, he said.

In Kerala, the company has already designed and installed solar systems of 100 KW each at various institutions across the state in partnership with Hyderabad-based Radiant Solar.
