Breaking all previous records of wheat procurement, Haryana
has procured about 82.26 lakh tonnes of wheat this season, officials of the
state Food and Supplies department said Friday.
The procurement this year is the highest-ever since the inception of Haryana as
a separate state Nov 1, 1966.
The previous procurement record in Haryana was 69.28 lakh tonnes of wheat
during the last procurement season (2011).
A spokesman of the food and supplies department said that over 82.27 lakh
tonnes of wheat had arrived in Haryana grain markets till Thursday.
