Investissement Quebec, the economic development agency of the government of the Canadian province of Quebec, is working to attract European investment to the province, billing the eastern region as a gateway to North America's more than 460 million consumers.

The Canadian province is focusing on agribusiness, infrastructure, information technology, especially mobile applications, and health care, Investissement Quebec European business development chief Hugo T. Lacroix told EFE.

"Spain has companies with much value added, experience and potential in these fields," Lacroix said.

Cepsa, OHL and Ebro are among the Spanish corporations that already have a presence in Quebec.

Spanish companies will play a role in several important projects being undertaken in the Canadian province, Lacroix said.

Investissement Quebec offers financial support in the form of direct loans, investment guarantees and support for obtaining lines of credit, as well as consulting and access to private and public entities.
