Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the UAE, will buy 12 Boeing aircraft in 2014 at a total value of 10.3 billion dirhams, a Boeing official said.

John Wojick, Boeing's senior vice president, said the company will deliver the aircraft in the first quarter of next year.

The signed order includes 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. This would bring the total number of aircraft purchased by Etihad to 41, to be delivered between 2014 and 2019.

Wojick lauded Etihad Airways' keenness on reinforcing its presence in Washington D.C, following the opening of its luxury waiting lounge valued at $6.8 million in Dallas international airport.
