Russia sold $13.2 billion worth of weaponry to foreign customers, including India, in 2011, the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Mikhail Dmitriyev, has revealed.

The main buyers of Russian military equipment in 2011 were India (25 percent), Algeria (15 percent) and Venezuela (10 perecent).

Russian arms exports in 2010 totalled $10.4 billion and foreign sales in 2011 were projected at $11.6 billion.

"We planned to sell $11.5 billion worth of weaponry, but we did better than that by selling $13.2 bln," said Dmitriyev Wednesday.

The share of combat aircraft in exports was 50 percent, equipment for Ground Forces - 25 percent, naval equipment - 11 percent, and air defence systems - 10 percent, the official said.

With a current arms exports portfolio of over $40 billion, Russia is planning to sell $13.5 billion worth of weaponry in 2012, Dmitriyev said.
