Lower prices of food items eased India's retail inflation during February to 6.58 per cent from January's 7.59 per cent.
However, the consumer price index (CPI), or retail inflation, was at 2.57 per cent in the corresponding month of last year.
According
to the National Statistical Office, even though the consumer food price
index remained at an elevated level, its rise was slower during
February at 10.81 per cent, compared with 13.63 per cent recorded in
January 2020 and (-)0.73 per cent in the corresponding period of last
year.
